Prime Minister Abiy Launches Fourth Book Medemer State

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed unveiled his fourth and latest book, Medemer State, on Tuesday (September 16), presenting it as a refined extension of the Medemer (synergy) philosophy. The launch ceremony was attended by President Taye Atske Selassie, senior government officials, high-ranking military officers, and representatives from across Ethiopian society.

In his remarks, Prime Minister Abiy described Medemer State as a governance model rooted in national realities and aimed at building a prosperous Ethiopia. The book, he noted, addresses the fundamental question of why the country remains poor and provides a clear roadmap with actionable solutions for accelerated progress.

He stressed that Ethiopia’s future must be grounded in its own aspirations rather than imitation of others, envisioning a nation that serves as a model of excellence. Drawing on recent achievements such as the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) and the Green Legacy Initiative, he underscored the practical application of the Medemer philosophy in advancing national goals.

Prime Minister Abiy emphasized the importance of unity through collaboration, stating that Ethiopia’s progress depends on harnessing diverse perspectives toward a shared vision rather than uniform thinking. He presented Medemer as a remedy for past divisions and as a framework for inclusive participation.

The Prime Minister also reiterated Ethiopia’s peaceful pursuit of sea access under international law, criticized leadership that lacks real-world grounding, and highlighted the need for concrete ideas, intellectual strength, and deep understanding of the people. He distinguished between constructive criticism and hollow debate, affirming that his government will remain focused on results rather than distractions.

Medemer State builds on PM Abiy’s earlier works, shifting the philosophy from theory to institutional practice, and outlining a path toward national transformation through unity, collaboration, and effective execution.
